Deer Damaged My 89 Hatchback Today
I was heading to a club display at a Ford dealer today and a deer came out of the tall grass in the median and plowed into the driver's door. It will need a new door and quarter panel. I was covered with glass from the side window but other wise OK.

Man.. that is just a dang shame. You have a really nice Fox. It'll be nice again soon, I'm sure, yeah?
When I drive or ride out in the countryfied areas, I'm always worried about critters jumpin out... had a road runner chase Ride's front wheel (dang those are fast!), and there've been the couple of deers I saw and bleated the horn at. They take off, thankfully.
The ones that worry me? Vultures. They sit by the road eatin' the roadkill... and darnitall if they don't like to jump up and at the bike... Cardinals keep flittin' in front of me this time of year... I think it's a game to them.
That's why they call them dumb animals, I suppose.
---
That towel for your pants? Ok, ok, sorry, just... well, it was sittin' there, waitin'.
---
Didja get the deer and process it? You're allowed to in an accident, I believe... be a dang shame to not get some sausage outta the deal... provided you're a carnivore, of course. You could donate it to a police or firestation maybe... I dunno. Just seems a waste. But then, the thing rammin' itself into your car is a waste too, poor stupid animal.
'Course, you probably didn't wanna cart it to a processor in the Fox, so I get that...
/Mmnnn... deer sausage...

Thanks guys. I bought this car new April 17, 1989, 25th Anniv of the Mustang. It has about 192,000 miles. The upholstry is original and still looks good because I have almost always covered the seat with a towel. Thanks to the towell I was able to dump the glass that landed on me and the seat and drive it 40 miles back home.

Do you have a Keystone Automotive supplier near you? They mainly supply body shops and such, but they sell to the public as well. I've bought fenders, bumpers etc. from them. Has always been good stuff.

I noticed on the site they show recycled complete doors, and new door skins from Keystone. I'd check the site to see if there is one near you and contact them about it, can't hurt to try.

Gorgeous! I love when a Fox has the window trim painted to match. It makes that quarter panel glass not seem so huge. Glad everything is back together and home!
