Question Bought a FOX, Only got 4th gear...HELP

Soooooooo, bought my son his first Mustang. 86 Fox 5.0, 5 speed. Last night while driving he heared a clunk, now only has 4th gear.

Any suggestions as to where to start??????? Really don't his friends to start taking it apart looking aimlessly. Had many a comment, from Throw-out bearing, Clutch, shifter, rear end, U-joints.

Where would you start to look ??????

will the shifter go into any of the other gears, does it seem like its in neutral when in those other gears? describe what happens when you move the shifter into the other gears? and describe the "clunk" sound, tell me more and i may be able to help, need to put my fancy book learning to some use

not the rear end or ujoints. Does the clutch still work, when you push the clutch in while the car is running will it disengage or will the car try to keep moving

it may be either the input gear or the first cluster gear may be stripped, you'll still have your 1:1 gear(4th) but you wont have the other gears since the cluster grears arent rotating so no rotation is being transfered to the other gears.

If the clutch operates, then you've got a blown tranny. That's teh suck.

Just took it out. It's the Cluster gear.

Now problem #2. The Sway bar is rusted off on one side. Anyone know where I can find a "Blow-up" Diagram of this sucker, so I can take it out the proper way. ie;s, how does it bolt up. And then, of course, the replacement, any upgrades out there, before I put a stock one on it.
