I know that ampperformance.com sells the AOD stock for $895 and I am pretty sure that they buy and sell used transmission. That might be a place that you would want to check out. I couldnt tell you how much they would go for but it couldnt hurt to find out. Good luck.

You get what you pay for and in the case of an AOD if you cheap out you'll be lucky if it makes it a week. If you remove the one you have yourself you should be able to get a bench job for about $400....and rebuild it, provided it doesn't need a new drum or other parts. I doubt you will find a new one for $700 that is worth anything.

I would get a C-4 Auto with a 2800 stall converter or a World Class T-5 Manual tranny.

you mean DOA right, isn't it the Lentech AOD that is supposed to be stronger than a Turob 400 after mods???

As for the T5, you'd have to do a fair amount of parts swapping and some tight underdash work, all in all its not to hard to convert to manual.

I have a friend that put a ger in his its running fine. If your selling it anyways then I would say go with it. If it goes out then they will replace it for ya. I am sure you could even talk them into paying for the labor if it did go out.

I wouldn't install anything from GER if you gave it to me! Over the past 10 years I have seen nothing but junk come from that company regardless of what it was....buyer beware with anything from GER. If your friend is having good luck then great but it's the first I've ever heard of compared to 4 close personal friends(1 Mustang, 1 Cuda, 1 Camaro and 1 Lemans) having problems and countless others I've heard of.

The only under dash work is the clutch pedal set-up. I would go for the World Class T-5, or even a stock T-5. If you want a auto get a C-4 and put a 2800 stall converter for it. The C-4 modified will smoke the AOD modified due to the weight and strength. Isn't the Turbo 400 a Chevy Big-Block tranny, Why would u want a GM product?

AODs, are heavy even when they have been built. A near stock C-4 is better, sadly. Buy the World Class T-5, they are strong and tough.

Ditto... a 1500 dollar mistake I will never make again... Shoulda known something was up when the receipt mentioned litigation in GER's hometown only. best part was a auto transmission guy took the tranny apart and darn near died laughing
