Have a 93 lx for a every day driver and was wondering if this combo sounds like it will work....
Cobra upper, lower intake
70mm throttle body
75mm maf cal to 24#
trick flow stage 1 cam
Msd dist and coil
Gt40 heads
24# injectors
100 fuel pump
Bbk headers
3in flowmaster x pipe

Does this sound like it would all work together, not trying to make a supper car but a drivable one something close to 300 hp...

Sounds like a very good combo but I would do this go with atleast a 110 pump but a 155 pump would be my choice gives room to grow. the 100 pump will be on the small side imo. If the calibrated maf becomes a problem with running quality look at a tune for better results. gears down the line if the car doesn't have them also.

sweet street combo though.

you can try the calibrated maf, some guys get mixed results. It is a very basic method for going over to 24s and I recommend a tune when doing a full H/C/I to get the most from the combo. If shops are not close ( there has to some around) the other choice is a hand held.

Get your "combo" set and then contact sct tuners and they should be able to program a "chip" for you. I just did heads, cam, intake, t.b. and tune and have 314.?? Rwhp.I have 24lb inj. With a 155lph pump and adjustable regulator. Your intake will restrict you a bit and you don't need 3" exhaust, you won't use it. I use a pro m bullet mass air. I have tried others I.e. c&l and they don't work (driveability) as well. Mine is also a daily driver with a/c and the driveability is excellent.

Why not go with the Trickflow top end kit. Which is there Head's Cam and intake. I use to never like Trickflow stuff. Untill I bought my race car and seen that it had the top end kit and was running low 10's on Unported heads and intake.

I think it would be really good for a street car.

I agree with going trick flow. Heads cam and intake set up. I don't particularly like the way the TF intake looks so you have many options and they all perform well.

Just was wondering if everything was going to run together with no prob... Ill prob go trickflow everything in the future... But for now cheep fun...

what is wrong with your/his combo . it is a fine budget build combo and probally the #1 budget build for a fox GT40 intake ( Cobra basically uses the same lower intake has the GT40 the tubular flows slightly better than the factory '93 cobra, the ford racing cobra and explorer are probally neck in neck for flow numbers) GT40 or "P" heads and stage one cam.

you are totally fine for things bolting up, continue on.

If you had nothing, notta and where looking for advice on a combo at a low price then yeah I would go along with a mached top end kit like the trick flow, I would also always tell someone about the the tried and true GT40 top end with stage 1 cam or just build your own combo with wedge heads, afrs, etc.

where did I say that ? The GT40 explorer intake falls a little short of a real tubular GT40 intake and real '93 Cobra intake or even a pre '03 Ford racing intake hence before they where made in china. The ford racing intake doesn't flow like the "real" cobra intake after '03, it pretty much flow around what the explorer intake does. If have a real Cobra intake use that if it isn't then stay with the explorer ( also depending on year ) you can get GT40 top end info in our tech section and to help identify a real cobra from the chinese ford racing one flip it over it will have "made in china" on it but post casting #'s if not sure.

here is an good old chart for intake flow rates..note the cobra listed is for the real '93 cobra

Chart doesn't seem to come up.

Stock 5.0. intake about 135-140 CFMs

GT40 Tubular/ Rea. '93 Cobra & pre '03 FRPP Cobra 195- 200 CFMs

GT40 Explorer & Chinese FRPP Cobra 170-180 CFMs

Trick flow aftermarket intake will flow 200-210 cfms

You could also try having mild gasket matching/port work done to the intake manifold and heads to eke out a bit more hp. If you're going to attempt that yourself, just don't get greedy. That 3" exhaust section is definitely not needed - unless it is only bigger exhaust tips (I have a Magnaflow kit and wish it stayed 2 1/2" all the way).

3" mid pipe/exhaust, hi5.0 I missed that from the begining. Tirefryer 3" is too big at this point ( save for tips like hi5.0. stated) a system that big will cost you some power vs make any. I would go 2 1/2 like sated and is what I run and will stay with.

I am getting ready to do the same to my Fox. I haven't decided what to buy yet. My motor has 128000 miles on it. Should the bottom end be refreshed before I start on the top with that many miles?
