I have a newly built 331 in my 91 mustang and took it for it's first drive. I found some oil in the throttle body. I looked at the PCV hose and the hose coming off the valve cover. Neither had oil present. Any ideas of where the oil is coming from?

maybe some excess oil in the top half from when the motor was put together? only other thing i could think of is improper ring seal. i would clean the oil, and drive it somemore and see what happens

I cleaned the oil out drove it and the oil returned. I did a compression check and everything looks fine there as well. Any other ideas? This is driving me crazy. The engine builder did however forget the replace the baffle from the old intake to the new intake below the PCV valve.

thats probably it, if I'd have to guess, might want to install an oil/air seperator tro see if that clears up the problem.

yeah, you might want to replace that to see if that takes care of it
