You might want to consider a turbo instead. In 5th gear, your engine isnt turning as fast as it woud be in say 4th, so the supercharger isnt producing as much boost. A turbo is powered by the exhaust, so it doesnt matter what gear you are in. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.

NOt necessarily, depends on the application, and waht else your going to be doing to the engine, also, it depends on the engine your using.
