late 84 thru 93 used a variable rate spring. The spring rates changed for 87 but for your '86 the front spring rates are 425-525, the rears stayed the same at 200-300. The B spring is a variable rate spring that will give a nice drop and offer about the same ride.

The progressive "B" springs are going to be a little stiffer than stock but give a better ride than "C" springs. "C" springs use the same progressive rear springs but a linear (constant) rate front spring which will be much harsher than the "B".

There is always going to be some trade off with spring changes over stock. a good set off dampers ( shocks/struts) control arms ( later when cash allows) and sub frame connectors are ways to improve the handling of the fox and it doesn't always have to be a kill your back ride either.
