Intro: I've never been happy with my glass hood from Mustangs Unlimited, years ago when I was budget limited and the paint/body guy had the ticker on I did not make the decision to pull the hood and find a better fitting. And now years later I regret it, not only does it bow in the center (arches above the fenders) but it is not physically right in regards to dimensions.

So in the off season I wil be doing the rear valance over and since paintwork will take place I think it might be time to rework/replace the hood since it really is a sore spot.

Decided this time I would get some measurements to compare. The two critical measurements I am after are the width of the hood at the cowl edge and the width at the front of the hood (between the two "fender points" and/or the widest point at the front). Here's what I've collected (numbers are all for '67/8):

Vendor/Part -- Cowl Width -- Front Width
MU Shelby Hood -- 47 1/8" -- 45"
MD Shelby Hood -- 47 1/2" -- 45"
Maier Cowl Hood -- 47 1/2" -- 45 1/4"
Stock Hood 1 -- 47 5/8" -- 45 1/8"
Stock Hood 2 -- 47 5/8" -- 45 1/8"
Stock Hood 3 -- 47 3/4" -- 45 1/4"

MU = Mustangs Unlimted
MD = Mustang Depot

If anyone else can provide additional measurements for 67/68 hoods by any vendor or style please add.

Measured the ones pictured above, both are ´67, one (the black one) is what I believe the original from my early ´67 coupe and the other one is from a ´67 convertible.

I might have a chance to measure at least one more stock hood tomorrow. If so = I´ll be back.

Vendor/Part -- Cowl Width -- Front Width
Stock Hood 4 -- 47 25/32" -- 44 15/16"
Stock Hood 5 -- 47 11/16" -- 45"

The hood width at the cowl should be the same width as the cowl itself. That might vary slightly car-to-car so you might measure yours and use that as your goal measurement.

The front width is very adjustable, therefore not very critical.

"Should" and what is actually available are two different things... thus the "research"

But yeah the cowl width is the goal.
