I have a friend who's father had a 65 or 66 stang back in the 70's. He bought several body parts, but ended up selling the car, but keeping the parts. All of these parts are genuine Ford, still in the box. Never been opened since back in the 70's from what I understand.

I told him I would see if I could get an idea of what they might be worth.

Can y'all help me out here?

Front bumper
Rear bumper
All outside chrome moldings
Decals/emblems

Thanks in advance. I told him I would try to help him set a fair price.

I may be interested in all of those things if they are for a 65/66. Post some pics if you can and, let me know of a price.

I'll have to check with him. He has no idea what they are worth. I told him I would ask y'all because y'all are the experts.

I've always wanted to restore a 65/66, but don't have the money or skills. The boxes haven't even been opened yet, and he is reluctant to do so because of that fact.

If I could give him an idea what they are worth, I could probably convince him to open them and let me take pics.

I know y'all don't really want to set his price if you're going to buy them, but I was hoping for at least an impartial honest ballpark figure.

Thanks,
Rick

How good does the chrome on those repo bumpers hold up though? I don't want to have the chrome go to crap after one season on the car.

As far as what a good price on an original if it is bumper I don't have a clue. Sorry But I'm real new to this hobbie.

While it may appear to look OK, I have yet to see this type of repro item actually be just as good as the original. The gauge of the steel used will be quite thinner too. Basically you get what you pay for. There is no way you can expect a Taiwan reproduction to be as good as the original USA made piece for half the cost. At least nothing in my life to date has led me to believe that.

Now the real question here is what do you need. For a drive around car, yes, a repro is fine, for a show car, I'd go original.

Exactly what I was thinking Pakrat.

My car is a weekend warrior, not going to be showing it to get judged anytime soon. Maybe I'll check prices and see what I can scrounge up. Only the front bumper needs to be replaced now.

What might it cost to get rechromed?

you are probably looking at about 2-300 bucks to get the bumber rechromed, if you can get these for that or less it's a pretty good deal
