Question

The bent wheel got straightened last week, and balanced out great. However, on a cruise Saturday night, I still felt that something wasn't "right". It was MUCH better than before, but I still felt a vibration...

Got the car up on stands tonight, and starting checking everything... Wait a second, that rear U-joint doesn't feel right. Sure enough, I found a crack about 2/3rds of the way across one of the caps. Pulled it apart, and about 1/2 of the needle bearings were gone from inside that cap. $20 later, a HD replacement is in, and no more vibrations.

I'm wondering if the imbalance from th egg-shaped wheel had something to do with this. Either that, or the wheelhop from the egg-shaped wheel helped kill the U-joint during a certain burnout that might have occured...

Oh well, at least it was a cheap, easy fix.

I'm just happy that it didn't come completely apart. I've driven ~300 miles with the vibration. A U-joint failure on I-35 150 miles from home (in the rain) would've been real cute!

That's good news. Now if you can just tell me what this lightswitch on the wall does? It doesn't appear to be wired to anything.
