Just started my 69Mach1 project, the car came with an automatic tranny, so i was on the lookout for a used top loader and came up with this one which i paid $450cdn...it came with the bell-housing and Hurst shifter....i opened up the cover and looked at the gears, but i will have it overhauled by a transmission specialist....just wondering if it was a good deal.....looked fot one on E-BAy, and saw one that was rebuilded for $1200 US.....that's a lot of money....

450 cdn is a flat out steal!!!! especially since you also got the shifter and bellhousing.

That's what i was told...but i don't know if it needs some repairs....the gears look ok but it will need some more investigating.....

Probably a silly question but why not just put a built automatic transmission behind it? It seems like aquiring the rest of the necessary parts wouldn't be a lot of fun not to mention the under dash clutch A-Frame installation. I know, I know, I used to also have this it has got to be a top loader fetish but a strong auto just seems so much easier now days.

I'm trying to keep it as original as possible, even though it has an auto in it right now, i want something that was an option back then, and to me , this car has got to be shifted manually....did i mention i love the stick....
Tomorrow i will have my first pics of the car, will post them here asap...
