Shifter Bushings

I'm new to this forum. I just aquired a 65 Mustang (289 Auto) The shifter is very sloppy. Can I replace the bushings without removing the whole shifter ?

I replaced my inside bushing with removing the plate and I believe you can do the outside one too. Not sure you'd have to get greasy and get under her

I had the same thing on my '69. Admittedly, that was a bunch of years ago.

It was the bushings. Had them replaced and things were nice and snug after that.
