Hi everyone, I used to have an old 1966 mustang coupe 289 2v. Anyways long story short, I sold it. when i got it it was in pretty good shape, and didnt have to do much to get it running. I am now looking at buying another 1965 coupe with a 289 in it. I have seen this car for years sitting in the same spot. within the next month or so I am going o ask them if they would be willing to sell it.

Anyways I am guessing that it doesnt run. First things I was going to replace when I get it totry to get it to run was going to be

- Voltage Regulator
-Starter Solenoid
- Coil
- Battery
- Starter
- New Plugs
- New Wires
-New Alternator
- New Fuel Pump.

Are there any other things that you all recommened that I replace while trying to get this car running?

well yes brakes will get done for sure, I have to get this thing to pass the inspection some how. but the first thing im worried about is getting it running and idling right.

Gas,Gas,Gas change the gas in the tank and flush the fuel lines, before you try to start it!

ah yes the ever important gas. any suggestions as to how i should go about flushing the lines?

Don't suck on it! Use compressed air to blow the line out. Remove the filter and put the open end of the line in a container so you don't blow gas all over. You can use the same canned air you find in computer stores if you don't have access to a compressor.

If its been sitting for years w/ gas in the tank, its almost easier just to replace the tank and pickup(if your budget allows, they're not too expensive)than cleaning out the old gas and trying to dispose of it. If your going to try the old carb., just watch for leaks and be sure to clean it out good too.
