rally pack

I just installed an original rally pack into my 66, using the wiring manual
one lead went to ignition the other went to the pink resister wire, the third wire is simply for the light, here is where the problem arises. the tac comes to life when the car is started however it only registers about 700 rpm, is the tac toast or is there some other issue, can anyone shed some light. thanks in advance......

do you have the original ignition? if you have a MSD or something you have to have an adapter. I had that problem when I added my MSD.

Run the tach pick up wire directly to the coil(from the outside of the car)...I can't remember the color of the wire, but it won't be black. Then the ground to any ground...turn on the car and see if it works. When I bought my fastback both tach and clock were totally dead. I took it all apart and whoever installed it had it all wrong. I was finally able to get everything working including the lights. If you have problems, try emailing me some photos of the tach wires and the coil and I can walk you through it.

The rally packs are really nice. But I can't find any speedometers. My pickup's speedometer needle is bent into the dash, and it sticks. I have looked for years, and I can't find anyone that sells speedometers.

How about taking it apart to straighten out the needle.

Well, yeah, initially, that was the idea. I took it apart, and found out that that plastic piece of crap in there is so rigid that it will break if i bend it, so the only choice is: No speedometer (gets you speeding tickets, trust me), or clip the needle. But it just keeps bending back in, so I dont know what to do.
