Anyone installed bond on Shelby side scoops

I bought a pair of Shelby side scoops to install on my '66 convertible. They are the bond on type. Anyone ever install these. I'm stripping the quarters back down to bare metal and etch priming them. I'll be using a 5 minute 2 part adhesive. Any tips appreciated. kennyg

I've used 5 minute epoxy for years and it is really great stuff. You will attain greatest adhesive strenght if both surfaces to be bonded are rough...not smooth. The particles in the epoxy need to grab to something, just like bondo. I would try to use fine sandpaper to roughen up the paint a bit so the epoxy works and you won't have problems in the future. Any excess epoxy can be cleaned up, before it dries, with alcohol.

i watched a show on history channel, and most modern epoxy's are stronger than welds bescause they will flex a little bit instead of popping and breakin..sooo yea lol have a nice day

I use epoxy for RC airplanes. Look up a hobby shop and ask them for 5 minute epoxy. It mixes 50:50 in a cup and dries pretty clear. You could also get other longer drying times, but 5 minutes should do the job for the scoops. I would apply a generous amount on the edges, let it squeeze out, wipe the excess clean with alcohol, and tape it up until it dries.

Here's the epoxy I'll be using. It's Norton Speedgrip 5 minute epoxy. I purchased it through a local body shop supply, about $30. They had several cure rates available, but I chose the 5 minute type to allow a little adjustment time. The store loaned me the applicator gun. There is a mixing tip you put on the end of the catridge, leave it on after use for storage, and then replace the tip the next time you need to use the epoxy. Still haven't installed the scoops yet, but I've been fitting them and have found that I won't be able to tape them on because they are in a slight bind, so I'll have to hold them on while the epoxy cures. Here's a couple of pics of the epoxy catridge and the application gun.
