Thumbs up

Heard a new noise tonight with my car. Never has this happened before. If I turn the wheel just a tiny bit, I hear a grinding noise. I think it might have to do with power steering but not sure. Sitting in park with the car running if I move the wheel a couple inches to the left or right, it makes this loud noise. Any idea as to what this might be? The car drive perfectly fine. Not having any problems with anything at all, just this new noise.

Ford pumps are notorious for making grinding/squealing noises. A friend of mine put a pump on last year and had to replace it a week later. It started making the grinding noise and the pulley seized.

Have someone turn the steering wheel left to right while you have a screwdriver against the pump and your ear against the other end of the screwdriver (preferably a long screwdriver or a mechanics stethoscope if you have one). At least you can find out where the noise is coming from. MikeR
