Modern suspension on a 69

I just picked up a 69 hardtop that started life as a base I6 200 with the 3 speed. Now it's got an 87 5.0 and a half-*** installed C6. In the next few months I would like to upgrade the suspension and brakes from a newer GT or another ford product that's compatible without spending a fortune. Any tips or advise would be great. Thank you.

The late model stuff really isn't transferable and if you want it, it's a lot of fab. If you want good handling for cheap, go stiff rear springs, some good gas adjusts, sway bar, trac bars and your good to go. Front either mustang 2 or just replace all stock bushings, go stiffer coils, gas adjusts again, thicker sway bar, poly tie rod bushings, and probably a one piece export brace and a monte bar. And subframes possibly. Nothings cheap but do the labor yourself

Somebody before me must have changed the rear axle because it's got a 5 lug hub and the front has only 4. How will that effect the parts I get?

If you buy a mustang 2 front clip it'll change the 4 lug over to 5 anyway. You don't want 4 lug it's weaker. If the rear end is 5 already then you can just do the rear upgrades I said
