At a loss

Hey guys could really use your help tonight is the first night away from my car. Didn't make it home luckily it is safe in a bay at work. I upgraded the 2bbl setup to a four put on an performer intake and a Holley 600 I rebuilt the Holley as a friend sold it to me. The car has a petronix ignition and I bypassed the resistor so it has the proper power and a side note it ran fine prior. Got it fired this morning idle surged a little but other then that had it dialed pretty well just needed the fine tuning. Went to lunch an she stalled on the road had to pull over and let it sit for a minute the she fired up again. Got back to work safely went to leave and nothing just cranks I can smell fuel so I know it's getting it fuel bowls are set correctly. Hard to set the air mix if she won't start back up since I am pretty sure that was my culprit. When she was running I did the carb cleaner test for a leak and got no change. My timing was set to about 7. Advanced one for the added performance parts. My electric choke was open when I was trying so I ran around and manually shut the flap on the top of the carb. Any ideas? I readjusted my valves since I had the covers off in the rebuild possible over tight? I did it to where the push rods wouldn't turn then 1/4 pass that the turned over motor then repeated till they all were adjusted.

So, what's that about the bypassing of things? Bypassing of things usually leads to other things being kinda ticked off at that...

All other things being equal, sounds very much like the ignition is not working right, is why I ask that.

Stock ignition wire is resistor wire so only feeds partial battery voltage to the coil. With electronic ignition like Pertronix, you have to bypass the resistor wire to get full battery voltage. He was following the manufacturers instructions and that should not be the problem.

So... I got it right?

Weird!

---

30 month? Also weird. I read at first 'year', then... reread it and... well, that's an odd number. 2.5 years? But if it's still under it, that's a good thing.

I bypassed the resistor wire once on my 67. 3 coils later I reconnected it and never had a problem since.

Only supposed to do it with electronic ignition. I imagine it would cause problems with points-type. Always (consider) following manufacturers instructions.

Ya thirty month is strange. I am guessing because they realize that the vast majority of those units are being installed on classics so they recognize the sunny and fair weather only driving.

I know that.

I ran both the Pertronix and DSII setup, ran into the problem with the DSII setup.

Actually found an old picture of it.
