I have a 255 (4.2L) out of the ever popular early 80's fox bodies... OE spec'd at 119 hp. One of the car mags back in the day tried to do a build up with not much success, saying that the heads are too restrictive.

Here's my ??? - Is it close to a 289 block? I put a 302 pan on it, and a 302 double roller chain, but the new water pump I put on is the same as the 289's. I was thinking about making a stroker motor out of it, but at least getting a set of heads and intake.... Suggestions? Comments?

:bang:

Honestly, my suggestion would be to find a decent 302/5.0 engine to build.

I agree, but...

1. I have time and parts on this one already.
2. Know anyone who wants to trade a 302 for a 255?

The time you've got into it already mean nothing if you're looking to stroke it. And the parts you are going to NEED to stroke it probably aren't available off the shelf.
I agree with BLAKE... No Butts.

Thanks for the advice, greatly appreciated.

Currently working out a trade for a 5.0/5.8 roller motor... The guy I bought it from "swore" that he thought all mustangs in the early 80's V8's were 302's. He's willing to take this one back and give me what was originally promised. I guess I'm lucky with this one.

I'll let you know what I come out with.

Thanks Again!

its a 302 block with a destroked crank. About worthless as-is, but you can do to the block what you can do to any other 302 block of the same era, just throw away everything else

...but Im with Blake in that if you can, start with a roller block. If you can't, what you have will do in a pinch.
