Thats why its MY project, and not yours. Everything that I have done to the car was to fit my tastes...Or I wouldn't have done them.

Back to the drawing board!

driving it this way wont kill you at all, but make sure you TAKE THE BELT OFF. if you already have, good work, if not, you have to. you'll kill the pump in no time if you dont.

the hoses are pretty cheap, but do all of them, and make sure you have a good set of SAE flare nut wrenches. Beauty of a car btw

Just as an FYI my '68 power steering had a somewhat v-shaped metal bracket that kept the metal part of the power steering hose in place. Over time it can wear through the metal part of the hose and leak. I put a rubber barrier between the power steering hose and the bracket to reduce wear when I replaced my hoses.

I just un-hooked the hose and drove home (10 miles) I called my dad (ford mechanic) and he told me that it would be fine for a short distance (10 miles) at first I did unhook the belt but then I realised that, that belt also drives my water pump. so its either fried waterpump, or overheated brand new engine, I risked my pump. thanks for the advice though.

my apologies.

i didnt realize that was the only belt driving the water pump. On my fathers two stangs (66 convertible, 69 boss 302), the water pump is also driven by the alternator belt. The boss didnt have the pump hooked up, just sitting there when we first bought it. there are two belts wrapping around the pump as well as the crank. must be different on yours.

Tricksixtyfive was probably referring to OUPony's pic (link below) posted just eight posts before his comment or the red 68 in my post. Either way, it doesn't matter. Just keep up the good work and have patience.

I finnaly ordered my new rims, I really didn't think that I would be getting them this early but the salesman at les schwab talked me into getting them. I ordered them in 17'' and with a 10% discount ( because they like me so much) it all came to about 1,000 dollars. what do you think?

The wheels are being put on today which I am tottaly stoked about but I need some advise. yesterday I filled up about half tank and started driving and I went to work, after work I started driving home and the car would start to surge at a specified RPM (any gear) so I think I might have got a bad tank of gas. I put ISO HEET in the tank and it seems to be working better but what are the symptoms of a bad tank of gas?"

I don't think that is a symptom of bad gas. usually bad gas losses its octane lever and it will casue the engine to ping due to being to low of octane. maybe someone else could shed more light on the subject.

scratch the bad gas idea, my points of my distributor were out of wack, but the two containers of ISO HEET (alcohol) didn't hurt anything. also my coil wire wasn't as tight as it could have been. the wheels were put on and they look great, I had about 10 pics of the car but I accidently deleted all of them but I also made a little movie with my dads camera on mistake so I just captured a picture from that, sorry its low def.
