Well, it's good that you have a heater now! I went through most of the winter without one! Burrr!

When I drove my 65 in to work yesterday, I had to turn the heater down because it was getting too hot!

Update: heater works great! And I'm happy to put in my heater controll dash peice Now that it's done I got a warning the other day for "showing an excessive display of horsepower" because "the roatation of my rear wheels exceeded the speed of the vehicle" lol

I found a guy on craigslist that's parting out a 67 mustang so tonight I'm going to go pick up my taillight bezels and a new drivers door (my wife backed into my current one and I was too ashamed to tell any of you untill I found a replacement ) that's all, carry on.

I had them rebuild the heater box, replace the cardboard diffuser with a plastic one, and install some ducts to the defroster since I didn't have any! lol

These slicks are actually genuine vintage slicks from the 60's too! They are hard as hell though I probably did 5 mins of burning them last weekend and they still look like new.

So looking on craigslist last night I found an area shop is having a dyno weekend and they are charging only $50 for 3 pulls! It's a dynojet and it's non-mobile. I'll be leaving around 7am to Meridian ID it's about 150 miles from here and I'm really stoked! But also a little nervous that I'm not making horsepower wise, what I think I am. I'm shooting for at least 300RWHP! If I don't reach the goal then I'll just have to go back after I buy my new rpm airgap intake and afr 185 heads when my house sells. Wish me luck!

So I learned a lot this weekend! On the trip there (about 140 miles) i had a heater hose rupture on my header so I googled a local napa and my gps ended taking me to some guys house, at this point I'm all out of coolant and worried! He let me use his house and when I popped the radiator cap off, the only thing that came out was steam! Yikes! I sprayed my radiator and block down and even on my block the water was boiling! Eventually I filled the rad. And patched my heater hose with duct tape until I could find the real napa. I eventually found it (thank god for duct tape!) and they gave me a small section of hose for free to bypass my heater core. When I finally arrived I was expecting to see a line of cars to be dyno'd but it was only me.

After letting my car cool for a while we strapped her up to the rollers and this is where the disappointment began!

1st Pull:
We revved up to 4500rpm and it started backfiring so we killed it. (which is strange because I had just been on the highway for two hours sometimes above 5000 and I had no issues)
The numbers were miserable!!! Max Power=158 Max Torque=172
We diagnosed my scorched boots on my plugs as being the culprit for the missfires and replaced them with a set of stock 8mm units and found my choke was acting up and removed all together at my call. I was feeling pretty down at this point!

Run 2
Max Power= 231 Max Torque= 276
I was still a little disappointed but relieved at the same time. We noticed I was running a little lean so we bumped my secondary jets from 78 to 82.

Run 3
Max Power= 233 Max Torque=277

Run 4
We played with the timing.

Run 5
We changed it back and got
Max Power=232 Max Torque=283

I'm a little disappointed by the power but when I built this motor for some reason that's beyond me I put 8 to 1 compression pistons in it. (I thought i had higher but after calling my machinist where I bought the kit he told me it was the 8 to 1's (sigh) I'm happy with the torque though. They told me that figuring for elevation and drive train loss I should be around 310 at the crank hp and around 350ish crank torque.

I'll try and post my graph but it's a very nice curve and power seems to drop after 4750 rpm and torque peaks at 3700. Something to keep in mind is that I have tired valve springs so that may have contributed. When the paper work goes through with my house I'll be buying the smallest chambered AFR185's that I can afford along with an RPM airgap intake which will hopefully make me some power up to 6000 I'll keep you updated.

The whole cost of EVERYTHING including the price of jets and wires was only $120!

I'll post a link to YouTube so you can see the pulls.

when you go to replace the heater hoses, go with sicilone. You will never have to mess with them again.

I carry heater hose in my trunk. I had a pin hole leak before. My mechanic found it before I lost all my coolant.......

Ugh I wish I could be updating this thread saying I got my new heads...but instead the seal on my windshield split and my passenger and drivers side floorboards got flooded with rain water . I'm getting one side at a time but my driver seat and carpet are out airing it out and I'm putting fresh towels in daily to get the moisture out of my carpet pads.

I wish that I could but I don't have one. Fortunately I put tar paper under the carpet so minimal water actually got onto the metal.
