wireless for my older Sony worked through my closed glove box door without a problem at all. Now, all of my my music is on my iPod and that stays out on the console, hooked into the head unit with a aux cable, so I don't need a remote.

But, don't assume that a remote won't work--some will and some won't.

 

I just finished this afternoon. I will paint the area around player black later. And I will have to figure out a better way to attach the cover.

we did the exact same thing on an ex-friends 57 ford once, it worked really well

 

mount a receiver somewhere random and then run cables to sirius or something in the consul box

 

Looks like the radio is going to fit. I will probably have to re-think my bracket idea though as it is fitting SNUG in there already. No room to fit a bracket on the sides.

 

Look like you will either have to do without the door or modify it like crazy in order for it to fit.

Finding a console door without tons of pitting is pretty tough to do. It would be ashame to cut up a perfectly good one in order to make on work. JMO thou.

For brackets you should be able to fashion something that would connect to the existing holes on the bottom floor of that area. A couple small pieces of aluminum channel might work nicely. They could also serve to carry the wires away neatly and tuck them from view.

 

I couldn't find my door this morning and didn't have time to continue my search. The radio, however can be moved toward the back of the console more. I'll have to see how that door connects in there. It has been so long since I removed it that I can't remember.

 

You won't have to worry about anyone stealing it! Looks like it'll be in there nice and snug.
