I have found a guy who is selling 2 1970 fastbacks. They are in my area and I am thinking of buying one of them, but I am not quite sure yet. There is basically no difference between the two cars except one has a 351 Cleveland the other has a 351 Windsor. Is there a difference between the two motors or is it just a different build location? Also, I tried to ask the guy a couple of questions about the cars and he said that he didn't know the VIN's and I got the feeling that they are not the original engines found in these cars. Should I be skeptical about this? One more thing...I have not physically seen the cars yet, so I do not know exactly what kind of condition they are in. Any info or advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Here are the links:
Black 351W

Silver 351C

I've heard from alot of car guys that the 351c is the engine to have, but i dont have any technical data to support this.

351 Clevelands are much better performers out of the box, and the car will be worth a little more in the long run.

351 Windsors have so many aftermarket parts available though, it could be built to run with the Cleveland at a cheaper cost. So if they both need engine work you might consider the Windsor's lower initial cost, then put the extra money in heads/cam/intake...

The windsor and cleveland are 2 different engines. The W has more performance parts readily available and can be built into a helluva nice engine. I'm not a big fan of the C.

Given the choice between those 2 cars, I like the silver better but that is based solely on looks. Neither appear to be worth $14k, IMO.

I think the cars are close enough in options and pricing, I would base the decision on which has the more solid body. Engine stuff is cheap and easy compared to rust repair.

Thanks guys. I am going to go see the cars sometime this week. So I will probably have more questions after I see them in person.
