Thumbs down

Hello guys!!
First, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Im Alex from Guadalajara Jalisco Mexico, and Ive been planing on doing some HUGE stuff to my stang, and what Ive seen is that I have 2 options, either I drive all the way up to the states, mod everything I want, spend some big bucks, and drive down OR I spend a fortune bringing everything down and paying taxes, charges, S&H and some extra money... so Im thinking about option 1, driving up...

What I would really love from all of you guys is to give me some help, some directions, some advice, your opinions on what Im about to do, and all of the help I can get...
This would be with pictures and almost daily updates of how the project is comming... just like brad is doing with his car... but this time is different, LOL... the thing is that I want to get the best parts and also not to waste a lot of money, and Im planing to do this Overhauling - Pimp my ride style, cause I want to do this and come back in a week or week and a half... so I have to find the right people, at the right places, at the right time... and how else can I do that if its not with your help...

SO PLEASE HELP ME!!! PLEASE!!!!!!! thanks in advance :worship:

What Im planing to do to my car is a full upgrade/mod... in every aspect... this is what I wana do...
-Buy the Cervinis full bodykit, but paint it and instal it somewhere else... I like the stripes size and overall look, so im gona paint the same, could use some help in measurements, etc...
-Buy some good brakes (ANY OPTIONS?) baer or something ventilated and with big performance...
-Saleen HID headlights...
-Some supercharger, dunno if kenne bell or saleen or something cause I want 500+ hps... and still get it to be daily driver, and remember Im in mexico, so if something fails, I want something easier to fix by ford or something...
-About the rims, Im not sure but Im betwen the cervinis, the GT-500 concept replicas or the new Shelby signature series... planing on 20's what do you think?...
-And we dont have very good roads, and we get a lot of speed bumps in the city, so i dont want the kit to crack everyday, also in the ramps and driveways... so Im planing on some Air ride suspension, Lowrider style, so I can get my stang like "big foot" LOL when I need it, and then lower it... you know what I mean
-Dunno if back seat delete would be an option, but I actually got a 15 subwoofer in the trunk, and I was planing on doing some major sound system for sound competition, maybe 2 18 subs instead of the seat or something...
-Some touch screen instead of the shaker500... DVD, mp3 everything... dunno if navigation will work down here, but I think it will NOT... so not navigation...
-Is it possible to put a 5.1 sound system in a car?...
-White faced gauges like those from NR...
-Lots of gauges in the dash and at the pilar to have everything in order, lol!...
-Either recaro, cobra or something seats, or redesign the actual seats with some new cloth or leather...
-Radar detector which is a most but I dont know whats the best one...
-Some nitrous oxide system, nos, zax, or something...
-And some stuff that I might be forgetting right now that I will post latter...

So as you can see, this IS a HUGE project, and Im planing on doing only 1 time so Im planing on doing it right!... thats why I need everyones help...

I dont know when Im going up, but either is on the "Semana Santa" or holly week... or betwen June, July or August... it depends on work and some personal stuff...

And I dont know if I got to Tijuana, New Mexico, Texas, but Im looking for something near the border, Im not going ALL the way to NJ to cervinis, and then ALL the way down and stuff like that... so Im gona need all the advice I can get so I dont travel extra kilometers, sorry, miles...

PLEASE DONT LET THIS POST DIE, ITS VERY IMPORTANT TO ME...
AND PLEASE EVERYONE GIVE YOUR $0.02 AND HELP...

THANKS TO EVERYONE!!!!

ALEX

Wow, sounds like quite the project. The Cervinis kit should look very good and the air ride would definately help to protect the body kit when you're pulling into driveways and what not. I'd say a set of 14 inch Brembos should work out pretty nice for brakes. As far as superchargers go, Saleen would most likely be easiest for a Ford dealer to work on, though I doubt you would get 500hp without doing a little more to the engine. I also think that 20 inch GT500 replicas would look really nice with that body kit. As far as sound systems go, I don't really know what to tell you to get, but I think everything you are planning on doing would be pretty cool. Good luck with the project and be sure to post plenty of pics.

Hey Alex, you're very brave to take on this project, and I hope you take lots of pictures. Ill adress everything individually.
First off, how much time can you take off work, and do you have any family or anything in the states to ship to or what not. I would order everything to their house and then go install everything. If not, probally stay somewhere in LA, it will probally be a while, and get everything ordered.

My comments in italics

-Buy the Cervinis full bodykit, but paint it and instal it somewhere else... I like the stripes size and overall look, so im gona paint the same, could use some help in measurements, etc...
The cervinis kit is a very good fit apparently, paint will be about 2K for a good quality job

-Buy some good brakes (ANY OPTIONS?) baer or something ventilated and with big performance...
Brembo, Baer, Stoptech and some others are offering BBKs. I would go with the Brembos

-Saleen HID headlights...
Order from Saleen, I think its a fairly easy install

-Some supercharger, dunno if kenne bell or saleen or something cause I want 500+ hps... and still get it to be daily driver, and remember Im in mexico, so if something fails, I want something easier to fix by ford or something...
Lots of options here, for over 500 you might want a centrifugal unit (Vortech or ATI), Ford will support the Whipple (maybe) sc'er that is probally coming out next year. You might also want to look into a turbo

-About the rims, Im not sure but Im betwen the cervinis, the GT-500 concept replicas or the new Shelby signature series... planing on 20's what do you think?...
I like the look of 20s, some members don't. Its personal preference, its not to hard to get rims to fit. Keep in mind the BBK though, could be problems.

No company is offering a kit yet, but you could probally get a good air ride shop to do it for you

-Dunno if back seat delete would be an option, but I actually got a 15 subwoofer in the trunk, and I was planing on doing some major sound system for sound competition, maybe 2 18 subs instead of the seat or something...
members have done this and built sub boxes for the back. Shouldn't be to hard for you or a audio shop. Might want them to make you a fiberglass one.

-Some touch screen instead of the shaker500... DVD, mp3 everything... dunno if navigation will work down here, but I think it will NOT... so not navigation...
Look into the Pioneer AVIC D1 and the Eclipse system, or any other Double-DIN unit

-Is it possible to put a 5.1 sound system in a car?...
Probally, no real point though. Just get a nice range of speakers and subs.

-White faced gauges like those from NR...
Easy enough to instal

-Lots of gauges in the dash and at the pilar to have everything in order, lol!...
Look into the autometer gauges, many pods available. Ask if you want specific ones

-Either recaro, cobra or something seats, or redesign the actual seats with some new cloth or leather...
These are from the 3D carbon SEMA car. I love them.

-Radar detector which is a most but I dont know whats the best one...
Valentine one, or one of the escort ones

-Some nitrous oxide system, nos, zax, or something...
Zex is the only kit available right now, they have a racers kit as well. With the SC or Turbo, might want to be careful.

It might be cheaper to ship to Mexico, but its up to you.

Hope this helps,

Colin

I'm sure there are some custom car shops in San Diego that will help you out.

JBA racing could do your performance mods, they are one of the biggest mustang customizers in So Cal, not to mention they are affilited with Steeda.

http://www.jbaracing.com/

I'm sure they can recommend somebody to do your body work.

NYtoDCStang: Sure thing, just tell me how to post them, cause Ive never uploaded a pic before... have tons of pics... thanks for your coment!

THebb22: 14 inches brembos, are they better than baer brakes or what do you think?, I wont mind doing a little more to the engine in order to get 500+hps, about the GT500 replicas, Im thinking very much cause I really like the shelby ones, but those rims are very nice to and I felt in love when I saw them at the prototipe GT500... sure about the pics!!

korinwoodo: I dont have family up there... well I do but way up there in CT so thats not an option, about LA I think it would be better near texas or new mexico cause going to California-Tijuana is a longer run and more crowded and dificult IMO... maybe at some hotel or something I find, (any loving stanger up there?? I trade room for adventure at this project, and drive the car when its done) LOL... in the paint area I want to do all of the car cause it has gotten some scratches and want to get some new shine back again and also paint white stripes... brakes, BBK? oooh big brake kits? why brembo instead of stoptech or baer, pros cons?... cant wait till next year for a supercharger, but if you got some turbo options I would love 2 look at them, if not then why vortech instead of saleen, kene bell or shinoda or something??... in the rims area I know its not hard to install them, wich one you prefer? and whats the problem with bbks and rims???... yes if someone is air ride geek or pro, please give some feedback... audio I know no problems but if someone has any ideas could be nice, pioneer avic d1 is navigation, I dont need navigation but yes to double din unit and some touchscreen would be nice... no point in 5.1 why? Im planing on sound competition... about the gauges, what do you think on autometer nexus?... those cobra seats are nice but what about the prices, benefits, does it tilt and have positions lik ethe stock one?... radar, maybe the latest passport escort, I think its the best dunno for shure... about zex whats the diference from a normal to a racers?, and what do I have to be careful with??... I dont think its cheaper to ship 2 mexiao cause the taxes I would have to pay in order to get them here are way to much, and the S&H will be more expensive than me driving the car, as in gas and highway tools.. You helped me very much thanks colin!!

Don't expect anyone here to know of any body or performance shops in Mexico. Your best bet is to go to CA, it's the closest for you. It will take a couple weeks for sure to do all your mods I bet. A week for the body work and a week for the engine stuff, assuming everything goes to plan.

If I lived down there I could help you out, but unfortunatly I dont.
Paint shouldnt be to hard to find, wherever you go, make sure its top quality (PPG or whatever), BBK is big brakes yes. I like the look of the Brembos and they look to be bigger and better quality. If its good enough for Porsche/Ferrari, its probally good enough for me. The Vortech and ATI are centrifugal units (they make more power at higher RPMs) the others are Eaton/Twin Screws, which make power from low on the power-band, but the centrifugals can usually make more power. Make sure if you want over 500hp and you change the pullies, go with forged internals so you dont blow your engine to crap. Personally I like big 5 spoke wheels, the FR500 style, or some chrome bullitts. Some BBKs will not fit certain wheels. The brake company can send you a template. 5.1 is more for movies and what not, which you cant really attain with cds or radio, which sound nicer in stereo. You can get a really nice setup for what it would cost for 5.1. I like the autometer gauges, they seem to be a good choice. Those seats are about 1500 each I think, and they do have tilt and what not. If they are too expensive, look into Momo or Sparco. The zex racers kit is an addon, not sure what it is, might be an extra bottle. I have heard that its not a good idea to inject nitorous into the engine with a power-adder not sure on that one either, but I think you can inject it into the intake to cool the air or something. Anyways, glad to help! Keep us updated.

LOL!, would you think it would work? Im 50/50 on that...

The guys over at Sean Hyland Motorsport are selling forged internals, but they're up here in Canadia. Here
Might want to take to them. They also sell big bore/stroker kits. Anyways, cant wait for pictures and updates!

Good luck with your project and definately keep us posted. Along the lines of what Korinwoodo was talking about, take a look at my blog. Start a new topic under the proper color for your car (ie: 2005 Mustang/My 05/by color. Just document everything about your car in that topic. Keep it up to date with pics etc. It is a nice way for people to see what you have done to your car from start to finish.

Easiest thing is to get it all done in San Diego. I would have all the engine work done at DPR in San Diego.

http://www.dprsocal.com/

Then get all the bodywork done through Group 5 Motorsport, tell them exactly what you want done and they will do it. They are based in San Diego, and do the best modification work you can get done in San Diego. THey would love to work on a new mustang. Group 5 does $40k work on e46 m3's btw.
