Thumbs up

Ok,

Since this is the best board I've ever seen on Mustangs, I'm hoping some Mustang buff can help me with this question. I have a friend who knew a guy who had a 60's mustang that had a hood with air scoops built in but they were non fuctional and instead of pulling air into the engine, they had turn signals built into them.

Now I've googled and searched the forums, and I can't find anything that comes close to what he describes. He claimed as of 5 years ago when he saw it, that the hood alone was worth $5000 because it was so rare. He also claimed that Ford made the hood and it was a limited special product. I don't know what year the hood was for, nor can I say if it was a single scoop, 2 scoops, etc... I just know what I was told.

Does anyone know what he might be talking about? I'm thinking he's sorely mistaken, and that this hood he's talking about is actually a 3rd party product. I also got the impression that the hood scoop was divided into 2 scoops. One for the left turn signal, and the other for the right. Please if anyone knows anything, I'd love to hear it.

Chuck

It wasn't rare, simply an option on the checksheet. The scoops were reversed and non-functional, with small rectangular directionals in them.

If you are a MCA member, on the cover of Mustang Times (this months issue) there is a picture of 4 mustangs with that type of hood.

The hood was part of the exterior decor option group. It includes the special hood, wheel well molding, trunk molding, and a pop open gas cap. TS hoods sell for between $100 and 500 depending on condition.
