I am restoring my 68 and I would like to replace the original tail light panel with a 68 shelby tail light panel. I recently bought a restoration guide for mustangs and it shows an exploded diagram of a 68 shelby/Cal. Special, of the tail light panel. it shows that it is just bolted on the top and on the bottom. So I go to look at mine and its bolted on the bottom and sleeved/Welded? on the top.
If you have done this before please tell me how you did it because i do not want to cut anything. also if any of you have seen or have a 68 cal special what does the top of the panel bolt to.
Thanks

To bad it's not a 65-66 model. In the august 05 mustang monthly, is an article on installing shelby taillights that require no body work. The company's name that made them is called mustang project. They have a web sight, www.mustangproject.com. Maybe they have something in the works for 67-68 models.

Just opened the latest issue of mustang monthly and what do you know, there is an article on converting to shelby taillights for the 67-68 models. Happens to be from the same company, mustang projects.
