I was hit by a drunk driver last month on my Harley and have decided its time for my toy to have 4 wheels!

I have $7000 to spend and want a 65/66 coup.. Give me some ideas of what I should be able to buy for that money.. Any tips would be great.

btw i am in Dayton, Ohio... I have also checked the prices on ebay but would rather not buy a car there

7 grand should get you a decent v8 coupe, that doesn't need a ton of work, but it will most likely need some kind of resto work for that price

hemmings. i would say ebay, but u said not to. and then there are the good old classifeids. also, check ur local phone book for a mustang specialty store nearby. often, they will have some ok quality mustangs for sale too. heck i've even seen the occasional show car....

How about this. We meet up in say, Long Island. We spend about $200 on pizza, give a $150 tip, then high tail it outa there, rent a Maranello, go buy some spray paint, roll through town with our shades on and slowy nod our heads back and forth in a 'gangsta like motion.' Then, we pull up to some random place and spray paint random people black and blue. And then spray paint the Ferrari blue and have 'THNIKKAMAN' written on the side.

I just got a good V8 65 coupe for just under 7K. Rust free perfect pony interior no dents scratches. The paint got done last year. Just a few minor things to fix on it, new front windshield, just got a tire mag 500 combo cuz needed new rims etc. But 7K should be able to get ya a nice car

I got mine for 4k back in 2000, bone stock. Been running the past four years with only minimal work like water pump, radiator, carb rebuild. 7K is plenty, although there are things to look out for. Check the car for leaks, if it's ok with the owner hose the car down, or even help him wash it. This way you'll see if it leaks and can chew his price down a bit.

Ebay is nice but I prefer the locals. Better deals and no scams. If I went through ebay it would have to be a local sale anyway.

well, in 1966 there were coups in Nigeria, Ghana, Syria, Argentina, and the Central African Republic, however, I fear they may cost more than $7000

i like the go to long island idea haha. why dont you buy a good rolling chasis and build the rest yourself. maybe cost a tad bit more than 7k thiough but its more fun that way.
