I bought a 289 and c4 im going to put into a mustang shell eventually after i rebuild. The engine is incomplete. It is missing all accessories(alternator, ac, power steering) valve covers, air intake, carburetor, distributor, headers, and of course and probably my biggest concern, vacuum and coolant hoses and fuel lines(i dont know where they go). In fact i don't know where anything goes. Any pictures of complete engines, diagrams, and explanations would be helpful. thanks

 

Where are you located? How is the rest of the engine, meaning pistons crank and the rest of the stuff that came with the engine? Check your local junk yards but you probably won't find too many 289's. I am sure some there's a vendor or two around here that could help. Check google for pictures as well.

 

southern california. The rest is complete to my knowledge i havent taken it apart yet. The stuff that came off didn't come with the engine. If it had come with the engine i could probably figure something out...

and other vehicles that came with the 289 should have many of the same items you need ,.. such as fairlanes ,galixies,trucks etc ..

As for how hoses and such are ran. Enter in the year of the mustang and engine size into google and sift through the images they will show you how they are ran and there are millions of images.
