In my quest to find a decent trunklid I have come up empty handed. I'm considering buying a repro lid now. I've tried to keep as much original metal as possible. Other than some small patches the only other repro sheetmetal is my hood. I'm really paranoid about the fitting.

Has anyone used the repro trunklids?
How do they fit?
Was any "adjustment" needed to make it fit correctly?
Where did you buy yours from?

My experience maybe slightly different than yours since it's a '67 but I did go with a repro lid (one of those marketed as original tooling or whatever) for my car. Got it from Mustangs Unlimited. At first it looked good, but it ended up taking some serious work by the bodyman to get it fit. He had to change the contour of the rear lip and pull it out. The major work was on the top leading edge surface, he put MANY hours into that since the panel was flat and the body there is rounded.

It's not a bolt on from my experience roughly 5 or 6 years ago.

I was afraid of that. Why can't they make the stuff fit?

I bought one for the FB from NPD and it did take quite a bit of massaging to get it to fit. Like Jay said, it was flat at the back so we had to work it up to fit the contour of the car and the back corners were square so there was work there too. It came out nice in the end but it took some work.
