I have a 65 coupe in my garage thats been sitting there for 7 years. I got discouraged because I always had to work on it. The last thing to go was my tranny (c4) I was trying to up shift it manually and blew the pump (yeah stupid I know) anyway I want to get the old girl back on the road again. I have plans to put a 9" rear and possibly a lentech trans in it, as well as add disc brakes and upgrade the suspension (it was a 6 cyl originally). So the question is, I have a 2000 GT that Im thinking of selling to help finance the project. Would you do it? I have a 2002 Pickup as my daily driver now.

Thanks!

Steve

I've already sold my '96 GT to help finance my 66, so that'll probably answer that one for you.

That said, even if you do overhaul all those things (especially upgrading the old 6cyl stuff), you'll still have to work on it once in a while.

So, you have two play toys, one of which isn't working, right? Why not sell one to make your prefered car drive again? Would you really miss the '00 GT? So much so that it is worth not being able to drive the '65? If so, sell the '65--it isn't doing any good collecting dust in a garage for 7 years.

To me, one great toy is better than two pretty good toys.
JMHO.

Thanks guys. I always liked the 65 better. I've loved the old stangs since I was 15. I will miss how the 2000 handles, but I think if I do it right I can get the 65 close or at least handle much better than it does now. Im in a better position financially, as far as maintaining it goes. I was just out of college and married with a new house when I stuck her away in the garage : (

While I think tossing the 00' to better the 65' is the way to go as well, I'll offer another option for consideration. Since you say you love the old styling but will miss the handling of the newer car, maybe you should consider selling both for a new 05'.

Not that I would do this, but it may be right for your situation.

Funny you would mention that Pak. I thought about getting a new one, and realized what I like about them is that they look like the older stangs. That gave me the inspiration to get my **** in gear and get mine back on the road! I may get a newer stang again in a few years though! Where in NH did you live? Im in Goffstown!

Hmm, Goffstown, what's that near? I'm in Exeter. Let me know if I can be of assistance on anything, I know a few other local boys who are always willing to pitch in and Lord knows I can use all the return favors I can get my hands on this spring.

Get that 65 back on the road. Even a new one won't turn heads like a nicely done classic. Also there are so many cool things that have been made for your year of stang since you parked it. The possibilities are endless!!

Nah, not really. I'm not much into the whole club/show kind of thing unless I'm just a spectator. The short period I was in Texas I got dragged to a few show and shines, but I just got tired of all the people who don't even own cars pointing out what is wrong with mine. I built it just for me and my pleasure and pretty much keep it under wraps for summer driving only.

Good luck, I hope you keep it and if you ever want to egt together just let me know.
