Gauge "pod" insert for the dash in place of the radio for '64-'66
Gauge "pod" insert for the dash in place of the radio for '64-'66
I can remember seeing this in a magazine. I think it was in an old Comet or Falcon, but the dash had been customised or something, and the radio had been moved, and there were three autometer guages placed in the dash where the radio should be. I need help finding pictures of this. I already messed up my dash putting a CD player in it and I'm not satisfied...looking at other options....does anyone else remember seeing something like this/think this is a good idea this or am I high?

It could be just a piece of metal, with three holes cut out for the stereo hole, pics of the place you're talking about? welding up an insert wouldnt be too difficult
I can't think of any specific products off the top of my head, but I know they make em. not sure if they are all tailored to the specific car or are custom/universal applications
that being said, its not too hard to do this yourself. just get a piece of the preferred metal cut to the size of the radio area cutout, and make holes to mount whatever guages you want

here is a terrible mock up of what I'm wanting...this is not my car....
I guess you would call it a radio delete panel with guage pod...or someting like that...Paul?

I'd have to look at the place, but you could bend up some metal, and cut a few pipes (diameter of the guages) and weld it together for much cheaper than those
There is no original...I just saw a custom job in a mag once and I just want to see it again so I can figure out how to do it...that piece on ebay might be a good start at a custom piece...with a little work it may work.
