Is the sending unit original? If so it is more then likely toast I to couldn't get a reading so I started from the back working forward to replace parts to fix the problem and it was the sender. Simple fix remove retaining ring after you drain the gas tank of course then it comes right out new seal new unit replace the retainer and that's it

is`nt it when you unplug the gauge wire at the tank it will have a small amount of voltage ..then when you plug it back up the voltage will disappear ..i dont remember .. i`ll check my pinto when i get home .. i think you need voltage in the wire ....

Yeah when I unplug the wire I believe it's a yellow one the current is 0%. It worked before and suddenly didn't and my floater is in good shape. I think it might be the sending unit! But is there a specific FUSE for the gas?
