Question Fuel Pump Installation Help on '68 302

Hello everyone, most of my activity is either on the SN-95's or the 05+, but I'm home working on my Dad's GT/CS with him and in need of some help. Among other things it's in need of a new fuel pump. He's never swapped a fuel pump and we aren't quite sure what we need to do. Does anybody have any instructions on how to do this and/or any tips to help it go smoothly? It's a 68 Notchback with a 4V 302. Thanks for any help!

If it is the external one that is on the engine it should be only 2 bolts that hold it on. Just got to disconnect the fuel lines and remove those bolts. Also you want to watch out for the shaft that is inside the block that works the lever for the fuel pump. Soemtmes those will slide down when you pull out the old pump. If it does that what I have done is pulled it out and put grease on it then slipped it back in. The grease holds it up so you can slide the new pump lever in. It is really easy to change one. I hope this helps.

Thank you for your help! We got it installed with no problems at all. We took it out for its first drive in 12 years last night for around an hour and it ran like a champ!

You must have been working on a Chevy! Fords have an eccentric bolted to the timing gear that pumps the lever on the pump up and down. kennyg

Well it was a hummer in the Army. I have changed fuel pumps on everything but it has been awhile and so I said that way just to make sure.
