First timer needs body work guidance etc...

Redoing a 70 fastback. Have the car down to bare metal and jut started the body work. Looking for suggestions, hints etc... best way to prep metal for primer after body work. I know I need to clean and etch the metal before the prmer starts. Suggestions on what to use for this step? Planning on using epoxy primer after the surface is clean, is this a good idea? Not made it to researching a good filler primer before applying the color, so suggestions are appreciated. Also what color primer is the best foundation for grabber orange?

As you can see I can use all the help I can get. Hope to post some pics as I go along.

Thanks in advance for your help

there is some pre primer wipe douw stuff just can't think of the name right now. Talk to the guys at your local paint store. The places that sell car paint usually are pretty knowledgeable about this stuff.

The only thing I do after doing body work on a car with bare metal is just wipe it with Paint thinner to get the oil off of it and shoot the primer on. It also depends on how long the bare metal has been exposed to the elements too and how many people have touched it. The oil from your hands will make it star to rust sooner than normal.

Ensure there's no rust, wipe it down with thinner, then shoot it with epoxy primer. Done.

Any color primer will do, although I would probably lean to a gray primer for the Orange. If the color coat is any good, then the primer could be neon pink and won't show through.
