Explorer heads

I have a 95 explorer engine and my 69 302 pretty much stock, what do I need to change the heads?

you may be the first to do it .. iv`e not read of anyone doing it . but it must be do able as the engines are all the same size .. is the 95 a roller cam motor ..

You need to find out if they are GT40 or GT40P heads. If they are GT40 they will change out, but that is a roller engine if I remember right. For GT40P you have to have special headers to put them in due to spark plug clearance issues.

3 bars on the front of the head is GT40 and 4 bars is the P.

If they are GT40... It would be a "easy" thing to do?

You may run into trouble with push rod length with then GT40 or P heads on a non roller engine. But yes they would be less trouble if they were the GT40 set. Then you could use your existing headers.

Yes you can. Now that I think about it you could probably reuse the original pushrods.

They are GT40 heads but to know for sure you can identify them.

Go to post #7 of my tech thread I have all the info on the GT40 & "P" head and the Gt40 intake with pics on how to I.D. the heads and yes these are roller motors.
