I still think the hood is too dramatic, that all the lights are too much, and the fuel door looks out of place on the convertible, but this is beautiful. I'll take mine in dark blue with mineral grey stripes.

I was wondering when/if the ‘vert was going to show up on the site. They had that car on Spike TV’s ‘Autorox’ car show last week. (Horrible show by-the-way.) Kid Rock rode up onto stage in the Eleanor ‘Vert.

i'd change the hood and the gas cap but otherwise i'd take that car as is
Never cared for the hood, and the aggressive "roadracer" front end just doesn't do it for me on a cushy 'vert cruiser... Not to mention the 8 lights tacked allover the front end.
At least they used a "good" white
instead of doing ANOTHER grey/black car.
If they'd just call it something other than "eleanor", it'd probably get a better reception too.

You realize that if you did away with all these things, you'd pretty much be left with a stock-looking Shelby! In which case I'd have to agree whole-heartedly...

I agree. Every nit-picky thing I'd want to change about the car (hood, lights, fuel door, etc) takes the looks back to basically stock 67 Shelby. Hard to find problems with the mechanical improvements though.
That'd probably work for me. If I had my way, the word "Eleanor" would be put into the language filter system.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot this too......

Aside from all the hideousness that everyone else has already pointed out, I think using a stock type racing rollbar over the far more more refined 68-70 Shelby bar is a huge mistake and I still think this is like saying that the Mona Lisa would look better with a *****'s makeup and some eyebrows.
Big thumbs up on the engine though, love the webers.
But again, that's like saying "yeah sure she's a fat fugly biiiatch, but she's got a heart of gold and you should see how fast she can eat".

I saw this car at Barrett-Jackson last week. It is ok - but I agree with the dislike of the hood and the tacked on gas cap. I will say that the overall fit and finish of the show cars they had on site was not on par with a 100K+ cars. The engine compartments are lined with a spray on material - similar to truck bed liner, which was flaking off and patched in several places. The overall fit and finish of the fiberglass pieces and interior was good, but not great. I was glad to see it as my home novice restoration is on par with their work.
I just saw the Barrett-Jackson auction news on the Home Page of the Mustang Source.
I went to look at the link at Barrett-Jackson. It is interesting that they list it as a 1968 Shelby. However, the Eleanor Front end is based on the 1967 Shelby and is nowhere close to the 1968 Shelby. Also the Eleanor Rear-end is based again on the 1967 Shelby (having Cougar Taillights). The 1968 Shelby had T-Bird Taillights.
Different shape.
I know that the car is made with the Eleanor parts, but I think that this whole Eleanor body style is going to lead to misinformation of what a real 67-68 Shelby is to the novice.
