Door stuck closed 67
Well I just picked up a 67 Mustang 289 coupe. One problem the passenger door is stuck closed! The button on the handle on the outside does not engage. The handle on the inside pulls slightly but the door still does not budge. I removed the door panel and got into the door but I can not get it open. Next step will be to soak it with some penetrate wd40 or something stronger. However anyone else have any tips on how to get this door open?
Thanks!

Well I guess I answered my own question. Finally was able to open the door after quite a struggle! Inside the door at the very bottom of the latch there is a spring loaded lever which was quite easy once I found it, just flipped it up and open sesame. So now I removed the whole assembly including the door handle sprayed it all with brake cleaner, will let it soak in over night and re-install tomorrow morning.

Well it is over 40 years old..... But that's why I bought it. I had a 2007 GT but it was boring just did not have the feel of a 1st generation stang... I bought this car from the original owner's family and it sat in a garage for 20 years, it has only been back on the road for the last 2 years. It is solid no rust California car but it's still a project.
Congrats! Lets have some pics!

Just a litle update fixed the door and it works perfectly. Took everything apart cleaned it wth parts cleaner. Re-assembled everything noticed there is a small rubber bushing that goes inside the door handle behind the button, it was installed backwards. Now on to the next project.....

, word of advice, set yourself a $$$ limit on what you want to spend to get it where you want it. It's easy to put more into a car than what it is worth. My 66 has become a bigger money pit than my house and its still not done. I set a $10k limit on mine but what what was a bit of welding and buffing at the body shop has become a full restoration after they talked me into repainting it. So far I am over by about 2k with some more work to be done, but I knew with a full resto the $$ would go up.
Another bit of advice is to make a plan and stick with it. The people who had the car before me did things like re dye the carpet but not fix the cowell leak, the carpet was shot when I got it. they also put new tires on old rusty rims so they leaked a lot untill I had them re mounted cleaning up the rust.
. if they had just done things right it would have saved me the extra time and money to fix their fixes
I could go on but none of us have that much time.
