take a fastback Make it a convertabla that my friend is one of the raret shelbys (heard this from my uncle another mustang finatic) shelby made three fastbacks into convertibles just for a few good friends if you had one of those you would get a lot of attention

...reads like the last Engrish instruction-sheet I got with my VCR.

I think you could do one for about $25K. If you are really going for the correct look, the wheels, tail lights, nose cone, hood, etc. will add up, but in the end, I think it would be worth it.

I am really surprised that more people aren't doing 69-70 Shelbys. The prices on real ones are totally out of hand. I came across a 69 GT-500 vert on Trader Online last week for $180K. Personally, the $25K route is much more appealing. Look at what Mopar guys are getting for clone Cudas. Heck, if a vert is done right, you might make some $$$ with it (Especially in Phoenix with the January auction crowds).

You shouldn't have too difficult a time finding a good car to start with out in CA. There are still quite a few around.

I am not sure if you guys saw this, but this is the kinda $$ I figured a nicely done clone would bring.......

Hunh, that's weird, if all the parts used to make that clone came off an original Shelby, then how bad a shape could the Shelby have been?

I forgot all about this thread Trick65, How did you make out with that 5k 70' vert anyway????

I agree, something is not right here. Pictures should have been posted weeks ago.
I guess I can't blame you though, after seeing that clone on Ebay not sell for $65K, I would be quite about what I was building too. You could build a car like that for half the price. If I had the time and the $$$, I would build one. People have been building 65-66 Shelbys clones for years, but when you look at how rare the 69-70 verts were originally, It seems like a no-brainer to go with the later models.

Well, for now I am only cloning the back half on my vert' but God forbid if someone hits me again and it happens to be the front end this time, I would likely go full clone if I chose to undergo yet another restoration.

Sharp, check your PM's when you get a second.

BTW, for anyone planning on a coversion or update to your car, bad news. I finally heard from Branda and several of the parts we have been discussing have not been available for years now and the ones that are are a long backorder list. It would be nice if they could update their frickin website at least annually.
