I know the original-style Torq Thrust wheels have a rough surface to their spokes (don't they?)... And I would therefore assume they would accept paint pretty well, right? Just wondering because I'm hoping to make the move to a set of 16x7s, and would like a warm pewter color rather than the standard gray spokes. Anyone ever done this? Anything to look out for?

You can paint just about anything with the right preparation. I would suggest having them media blasted first, then primed with a good epoxy primer then panted with a BC/CC of your choice. But keep in mind, paint on wheels is very susceptible to damage.

IMO, your best bet is to have them powder coated.

Good advice - thanks.
By the way - what wheels are you running on your fastback? I've seen them on your site, but don't recall a name. They look fantastic!

I would recommend Photoshopping the color onto the rims first before spending the money. If you can't do it yourself, somebody else on this forum may be willing to help out (I don't have any Photoshopping skills, so I can't help).

Have you considered powder coating? Alot more durable than paint, and it really isn't that expensive. Heck, it may be worth it to buy a cheap powder coating rig and an old oven.

No - I haven't really given it that much thought at all. I don't even have the wheels yet. I plan to change the color of my interior to tans/browns and add a few small touches of gold here and there... I thought a warmer gray on the spokes may look more at home (than the cold gray).

You can take the boy outa art school; but you can't take the art school outa the boy!

I painted my American Racing Torq-Thrust D's with a high temp satin black paint over 10 years ago and have had no problems.

Sorry, been MIA, for a few days

Cloney turned me on to these wheels in one of his post a year or so back, but by then he'd already gone with his AR's (THANKS BOB )

Wheels are 17x7.7 Vista series custom billets made by Intro Wheels in Anaheim CA. ) www.introwheels.com

Couple of cool features you can't really see in the photo's smooth/rounded outer bead edge so they've got a real clean look and there's no place for some grease monkey to slap a balancing weight on. The valve stems are also mounted inboard (Behinde the spokes) so they don't clutter the the look of the wheel.
