Can you paint Exhaust headers?

As I am working on my engine bay and starting to paint the small items and I wanted to know if I will have any problems painting "with rattle cans" my exhaust headers? I was planing on using Rust-oleum Engine Enamel the 2000 degree paint. Does anyone have any tips or another product this is better to use than this?

I say yes but clean those puppies up really well. 2000 degree paint should do the trick

I'm sorry I can not answer your question. I just purchased the car back in March so I don't know if they are custom. I don't believe they are. Mustang Unlimited has replacements for $155

The VHT header paint is really good, just follow the prep and the curing cycle instructions and it seems to hold up pretty good. another trick to cure the coating is to heat the headers with torch from the inside this gets the coating nice and hard. another solid once for all option is sending them out to get coated

My JBA headers are over 4yrs old and still look brand new, but painting will work it will just need to done again in time.

POR 15 also has a high temp paint kit for headers. Again, good prep is the key. Heating them with a torch to help cure the paint is a good idea.

I can take some close up pics if needed no problem but mine are not painted but jet hot ceramic coated. That is why after my statement about my headers I put "but" painting will work. Ceramic coating is a more long lasting solution & better looking.

this what they looked like with the coating on them new..

I'll pull the cover off the car if need to take a pic but I can tell you they look just like that today, the stuff is 'tuff .

I just took this pic..this is after over 4yrs...

If people can swing coating thier headers it is worth the coin in every way.

Just a few pics of the finished product. This is a temp fix. I plan on buying new ones later this year.

on a normal car yeah it will work, I tried doing it to one of my other cars a while back, it was turbocharged, and the 2000 degree paint baked off within 2 weeks.. i guess the manifolds got hotter than 2000.

I'm sure they will, but I have been working on my engine bay and have run out of money.

Headman headers fit great and are easy on the wallet.
