I have a 69 that will go under the same modification; 351W to a close ratio Tremec T56. I dont have all the details yet; probibly the one that would help is what model T56 I am going to use.

There will be some minor cutting to fit the T56 in place. To avoid cutting, you can always go with a T45 Tremec as well.

I am sure there is more that I will become aware once the car is ready for conversion. When I find out, I will place more notes here or just send me a private mesasage on here.

Is there a 4 speed available for 65's that mimics an auto tranny..meaning i can shift it as well as have it run auto..like a tip tronic or something like that..

Sounds like that Douglas-Nash transmission from the C4 corvettes -- if i remember it right it was a 4+3 ( 4 speed manual with a 3 speed auto overdrive ) ... but thats for that car

for a classic mustang; i doubt there is a triptonic transmission available ... its not impossible to try; such a mating of that kind of transmission and engine will run you a lot of money.

With a 289 or 302 ... I have seen a lot of 5 speeds added to them which is nice because they fit right up.

There is another possibility but I dont know anything about them; only through idle chat ... a "slam" transmission ... maybe someone here can elaberate ... but i believe that kind of transmission is really for drag racing.

You could always go with a Richmond 6 speed (a TRUE 6 speed)

what would be the estimated cost of going to a manual? say you get a transmission for around 1200-2000...how much more will it be to get all of the clutch stuff and instulation. I'm trying to decide between going to manual, or getting 4 wheel power disk brakes. whatever is cheaper is probably what I'll do.

First of all, I would never put anything in without an overdrive if you plan on driving it on the hwys. I would go with either a T5 or Tremec depending on H/P.

I have bee quoted about 4K from Modern Driveline. Thats with a road race trans and hyd. clutch and all.

A 5 speed is also more desirable if you go to sell it
