I am getting my 70 Mach 1 ready to paint. The factory color is red. But I have thought about painting it the new torch red. What do you all think?

I had this issue with my car. When I was ready to paint it I went with a diffrent kind of Burgandy called Dark Garnet. The color was cool for awhile untill it came time to match the paint with things in the interior and such. The car didn't flow well. After I got hit from the side and the car is in the paint shop anyway. I decided to go back to the orginal color Vintage Burgandy. I'm very happy with the orginal color it seems to flow way better with the interior and the car it's self. Almost like Ford knew which burgandy looked the best on the car that year.

Think long and hard about what you want to do with the car in the future and if this a color you will be able to look good next to your interior. The color is very important. Hope that helps in any anyway. Which way you go I hope it turns out looking great.

The torch red is a great, pure bright red. I don't think you'll have any regrets going with that one.

Added benefit of picking modern colors is you can buy touch up paints and even spray cans of the stuff over the counter very easily. I learned the benefit of this years ago and would never do it differently again.

Of course, before somebody else says it - [b]I[/i] can even buy Amana White at the appliance store...

Hey thanks for reminding me about the interior color matching. I think the torch red actually will go well with the vermillion interior. I was surprised when I found that the production numbers of 70 Mach1's with red on vermillion was very low. That explaines why I am having a hard time finding deluxe vermillion door panels. And no I am not planning any more stripes than the factory Mach 1 hood stripe and rear panel. Actually I am going all original accept maybe the torch red.

hmmm... red on red? Not gonna work to well in my opinion, especially if you change the outer color. You could always go to black inside and would make the part hunting easier.
