69 Side Mirrors on 65 Conv.

I am restomoding a 65 convertible and I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to fit the paintable 69 or 70 side mirrors on the door of a 65. I dont have a local parts supplier to try and buy the mirrors and will have to order them and pay shipping and restock and yada yada yada.

The '69/'70 mirrors would lean inward and hit the door glass if you tried to mount them in the approximate location of the original '65/'66 mirrors, if you mount them on the side of the door they would stick out too far in my opinion. Have you looked at the repro Talbot mirrors that were used on the Shelbys and other cars of the '60's? They now make one with a longer base that will bolt to the original screw holes on your '65/'66. Anyone got a pic? kennyg

That's a great help. Thanks. I have seen the bullet Shelby mirrors for the 65. I suppose I could strip the chrome and paint them to get the same look.
