I have a 1968 Ford Mustang California Special (GT/CS) and I've heard about three point seat belt systems for classic mustangs but can't find any on the net. If anyone could help,it would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's fine for a show car, but in a driver it's not wise. I thought the look was more important than my safety, boy was I wrong. In my accident the lap belt did more damage to my back than no belt would have.

I believe companies like NPD carry a 3pt system but it's pricey. You can adapt almost any system though if you scavenge a bone yard you'll come up with a variety of things, here's a link to get you thinking about options.

No offense to Big D's opinion, but don't learn the hard way like I did, I've been stuck in physical therapy for 6 months and I still can't tie my shoes without immense pain, not worth the "stock look" in my humble opinion.

I found some at www.mustangsunlimited.com for around 260.00 that have a very stock look. Stock is cool and all, but I'm for the safety asspect rather than doing what pakrat has to do for his back. Thanks all for the help though.

Another option is to check the junk yards. In Jan 68, I think the government required that all cars had some form of shoulder belts. My 68 was a December 67 build and did not have them, but a friend of mine's 68 did. It was the two separate belts, one lap & one from the roof, with two buckles in between the tunnel and the seat on each side.

I don't know how well those worked, but it maybe worth looking into. A friend of my has the dual belt set up in his 67 Vette (coupe), and they work great.

As much as I don't like the price, I will be putting shoulder belts in my 66 as it comes together.

There is a black 69 Mach 1 in the shop that is currently painting my car. The body shop guy told me the owner was on the phone, and ran into the back of a semi on freeway. It did extensive damage to the front of the car, and you can plainly see where his head went through the windshield...I guess he wasn't wearing his seat belt. Anyway, it got me thinking about the subject.......
