66 I6 Coil Spring ride height

Ok...hello all, I posted earlier regarding my steering wheel dilemma...but now a new question. I replaced the upper and lower arms, sway bar links and everything else down there. In replacing the coil springs I went with a stiffer but 1" shorter coil spring from Laurel Mt. Mustang (they are for a V8). Now the car sits noticeably higher and looks like crap. I assume I made a boo-boo. Anyone else run into this? Can I cut a coil off or should I just replace with stock since we're only talking about $60 and they have to come out anyway?

I'd give it a month or so to settle down, and then if it doesn't cut them. I would cut in either 1/4 coil or 1/2 coil increments so you don't end up cutting off too much.

I relocated my upper arms like they did on the gt350, that lowered it 3/4-1in. then cut 1 coil it looks nice but just a little to low now.

Forgive the bad picture...but this is what I'm looking at. Something tells me it won't settle enough. From a distance it looks like the car is climbing a hill. Perhaps I'll start at 1/2 coil.

What is your tire size?

If it is P195/75R14 then you have a 25.5" diameter. I run 205/50R15 tire on my 67 and they have a diameter of 23.1". So 1/2 coil might actually end up just right for your.

Correct 195/75/r14. Could there be any considerations with the upper or lower arms. They were direct replacements and bolted right on. The springs seem seated correctly...still sounds like cutting.

I'm concerned it is related to the V8 springs and cutting a coil would further stiffen the ride, essentially pounding the pour car to death so i am ordering stock I6 springs. At that point I will cut a 1/4 coil since I do want it a smidgen lower and will repost the lowered ride.

Well, I bit the bullet and bought the stock springs and cut 1/8 a coil off. Looks much better. I suppose cutting the stiff springs would have worked but how rough would the ride be? Doesn't matter...I'm satisfied with the look. Anyone need a pair of 1" lower V-8 springs? Real cheap. Thanks again for your help.
