66 coupe replacement battery

Hi,

I have a 66 coupe 289 v8 based in the uk.
i am currently replacing the wire loom with the American Autowire kit. The problem is that the kit requires a single wire alternator and an upgraded ignition. I want to use the Pertronix contact less points & coil. The car did not have a battery or a safe wire loom.
What was the battery spec and what could i use with a single wire alternator. I am not intending to show the car i want to enjoy it with reliabilty. Can somebody advise me the specs and point me to a stockist in the uk where i can get the parts.
I hope i havn't asked to much but i am a total novice and have much to learn.
Thanks in advance.

lets see if anyone else has an idea about this .. changing to a gm alternator requires a bit of modification .. you can get any part you need from numerous american parts producers ..

Hi Hoss429,
i am trying to source from the uk as our customs charged me an extra 1/3 of the cost of my wire loom as import duty. Ridiculous amount of money.
Can a modern day battery have the cranking amps for the v8? what amps do i need on a single wire system? so many questions not many answers that i can nail down.

a battery of at least a minimun of 550 cca ( cold cranking amps ) will start a non modified V8 with ease

I have tried to look the answer up on the net. It seems to point to a 100amp single wire or 130amp if you can get 1 in the UK. Does this sound correct? Anybody know where i can get 1 in the UK?
thanks
