65 mustang light bulb question

A few inches below the ignition is a light bulb that I can't get to turn off. As soon as the battery cables are connected, the light turns on. I've tried every **** around but just can't seem to figure this out. (Can definitely tell I'm new to working on cars)

No it's seated in there as if its the light to light up the interior. Kind of like how modern cars have the interior light when you open the door or need to find something and its dark

twist the headlite switch back and forth .. you can turn on the interior lites with it .. and remove or unplug the door lite switches .. the ones that pop out when you open the door ..

These are 2 angles of where the lightbulb is. I've tried all ***** again and still no luck. Only way out as of now was to disconnect the bulb

i guess you need to find another car like yours and look at what makes it come on in that car .. my 69 does`nt have that lite .. but it is def an interior lite which only comes on by opening a door or turning the headlite switch .. does your dash lites brighten and dim when you twist the headlite switch ? ..

i`m thinking that also .. does the 65 have an overhead dome lite as well .if it works ok then your door switches must be ok as well .

Yeah the dash brightens and dims with a turn of the **** but my 65 doesn't have the overhead dome light.

There should also be one on the passenger side. When you turn the headlight switch **** all the way counter clockwise you should feel a detent. When you pass that detent the lights should both come on (if doors were shut). It does sound like you have either a faulty door switch (on the a-pillar at the front end of the door) or a short to power (the light fixture is always grounded). If you have a short to power it will always light but it is such a short (distance!) circuit that is unlikely. Have you tried unplugging the switch? Disconnect the battery then pry the switch out and unplug it. Does the light go out? You also have one on the pass door.

After you unplug the switch reconnect the battery! Then check light. Careful not to let the connector short to ground while disconnected
