Ok, so I'm rebuilding a 351 for my '69 Fairlane (I know, it's not a classic mustang, don't kill me!) but I need some help here.

The Edelbrock Performer package was designed for idle to 5500 rpm applications, which is probably all the higher I'll ever rev my motor. What I want to know is if I get the RPM package (1500 to 6500 RPM) am I going to sacrifice horsepower and torque in the lower rpm ranges in order to get more horsepower at 5500-6500 rpm?

Also, I can't run headers on my car because of the FMX tranny that is in it, so I have to run manifolds. Is there going to be a problem running cast iron manifolds with aluminum heads? If I have to run iron heads, which do you recommend? Thanks for your help!

Id stick w the Performer...thats a heavy car w/ an auto, you'll need a lot of low-end grunt.

why can't you run headers with the FMX? i am. also the performer package would be a good choice, but i think would with the RPM intake since the preformer intake is basically a stock intake but aluminum instead of cast iron. it really doesn't flow much if ny better than the stock cast piece.

Everything I've read says that for 68-69 fairlanes you can run headers with a C4, but not with the FMX or C6. Clearance problems I would guess. I've looked everywhere but they all say the same thing. I thought it was just C6, but in all the catalogs for headers it has an asterisk that says C4 only. If anyone can tell me differently I'd happily put headers on my car!

Look for some short headers, there may still be hope there.

I say go for the RPM package if you can get headers on there.
