302 Pulleys

I purchased a 302 to put into my 65. The guys said the engine is an 87, and I only have V-belt pulleys for it. I was thinking about switching over to serpentine pulleys. All I have to run is the alternator and the water pump. Do I just need to get a new alternator, water pump pulley, and crank pulley?

I have an 80 engine in my 67, but I have the old school front dress with v-belts. There is a decent article in this November's Mustang Monthly about serpentine belt options (I was reading it just last night). Many of them only work with the newer 4-bolt harmonic balancers, something to consider depending on what is on there. It should give you a good idea of what your options are and how much you'd be looking at spending.

I'll check that out thanks. I was going to stick with the v belts but am having a hard time finding a pulley for my water pump that fits. Thought it might be easier just to switch them all together.

I actually just replaced my water pulley, but I think I have a 60s water pump, so it's apples and oranges unless you were into a water pump swap, but at that point you might as well upgrade.

Eventually I will look into serpentine for the advantages, but that's a ways down the road. Keep us posted in what you choose and how it goes!
