The engine in the 66 is making a "ticking" noise. It sounds to be coming from the passenger side of the engine. I checked the plug wires, tightened the header, did the timing, and pulled out handfuls of hair. All with no luck. Any ideas???

 

take about a three foot piece of garden hose and use it as a direct point listening device ..stick one end to your ear and move the other end around the area of the ticking sound .. most likely you have a loose rocker arm .. they back off from time to time .. pull the valve cover on that side and look for a loose one ..

 

exhaust leak at the intake manifold is my guess. might have a bad gasket that tightening didn't fix.

 

I'm thinking you might be right about the gasket!
